IP 485-15 was originally owned by a gentleman and his wife from England. The vessel was originally named "Nordlys II". We purchased the yacht in April of 2006 through the brokerage of Island Yachting Centre in Palmetto Florida. Ed Whitaker was very diligent and accomodating with our needs. The 3rd state room was factory configured as a double bunk layout, we wanted the office/double berth combo. Island Yachting Centre worked with the Ip factory just up the road and made the conversion at no cost to us. The work was suberb and the service was outstanding.
We left port from Twin Dolphin Marina in Bradenton Fla on Memorial Day 2005. Winds were light, we motorsailed all day and through the night, crossing the keys at marathon.
Jay Sea Dee was sailed up the east coast of Florida and then we ducked into the ICW. My mom & dad ( god bless them) delivered the boat to Norfolk at which point the three of us sailed from Norfolk to Warwick Rhode Island in 56 hours (478nm).
Jay Sea Dee spent the summer of 2006 cruising Naragansset Bay and Maine. Jay Sea Dee was hauled and on on the hard for 18 months until it was splashed on June 1 2008. Check out the blog at JaySeaDee.blogspot.com for the rest of the story.
